Christian Guitar Lessons - Learn Guitar And Worship Songs NowChristian Guitar Lessons are something that are close to my heart now and has been for the past 20 years. I have had the blessing of leading worship at churches all over the world for the majority of my life.
There is nothing better than seeing the love of a church or even a group of people worshiping so deeply and connecting with God. For me that started when I was about 13 years old and began taking Christian guitar lessons.
Maybe you are like me and want to learn how to play great worship songs.
Eventually I went to a small private college in Tennessee. At this school, I met some great people and excellent musicians - one of which recently won two Grammy's!
A group of us decided to embark on really changing the way that music was embraced at this school as it was fairly traditional and we were more interested in contemporary worship songs.
So we all met together weekly to practice and eventually formed a worship band that led a second chapel called "alternative chapel". This weekly alternative chapel became a movement that people gravitated towards and within a few months it was wall-to-wall packed. It was a blessing to have even been a part of it and in turn it led to a lot of amazing things.
To see that many people with the same heart for God worshiping in a small uncomfortable campus house was incredible. It didn't take long before I had a lot of people asking me to teach them to play guitar because they wanted to learn the worship songs we were playing.
I had never thought of giving people Christian guitar lessons so to speak but that was where the idea arose. Eventually I was had quite a few students and friends that I was teaching to play guitar. However, the best part was when these students gained enough skill to start playing worship songs along with me.
The problem that most of my students had was that they wanted to play guitar but didn't necessarily want to lock themselves in their room practicing scales for hours a day. They wanted to be more practical and learn worship songs quickly.
Maybe you are in the same boat? Perhaps you want to learn guitar but your heart and passion is to learn Christian songs.
I was fortunate enough to have a great teacher who basically gave me Christian guitar lessons before I knew there was such a thing, so I also learned popular worship songs that I loved to play.
The great thing about Christian guitar lessons and learning worship songs in general is that they lend themselves perfectly to beginners. Worship songs are not meant to impress you, or dazzle you with their complexity, they are meant for everyone to be able to share and to guide you into a time of worship with the Creator.
Most songs you hear on the radio are not as easy to pick up for beginners but most worship songs I can teach a beginner to play in a matter of days. The key is to learn the fundamentals of guitar the right way and then to apply them to your favorite worship songs.
Some worship songs get a little more complicated and add a few more dynamics that are not quite so beginner oriented...however with the right teacher I am confident that you can learn guitar and worship tunes quickly.
