Even if he was a country guitarist Les Paul gave us his inventions which made the sound of rock and roll possible. He well deserves his place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Les Paul gave us the Gibson Les Paul, the most popular guitar in the world. Also, he is a real inspiration for all the guitar players and artists out there. The Les Paul name was taken at the beginning of his music career which started as a banjo and harmonica player until he found out the instrument which he fell in love with and dedicated a big part of his life: the guitar. Looking always to push up the limits of its guitar and striving to pull out an unique sound he started to create all kind of inventions. After trying many times he managed to assemble together pickups from an old phonograph and manufactured an instrument that could hold reverb for much longer - the electric guitar. The acoustic guitar stepped on a new path.
"The Log", a 4x4 lumber with a guitar neck, a bridge and a pickup attached was its largest achievement which became the first solid-body electric guitar. From this humble start Les Paul created one of the most wanted guitars in the whole world. A guitar with a perfect sound - the Gibson Les Paul.
